BVS Moon Week

When the Moon came to BVS.

For one week in March, BVS was home to lunar and meteorite samples. Children were very excited when they got to hold different objects from outer space. Everyone noticed that some of the meteorites were much heavier than they thought they would be. This influenced many pieces of work throughout the week, including English, Maths and some interesting art work. Year 5 also received a letter from the UK Space Agency asking for their help. Children had to design and build a landing pod prototype that would be able to land on Mars. This was tested by dropping an egg to see if it could be protected. Some were more successful than others. Year 6 tested what craters were made by the meteorites by dropping them in sand and comparing the results to rocks from Earth. Check out the photos to see what we did.
